Nanjing Resort
The site is situated on a sloping terrain, the lateral textures of the surrounding undulating mountains and exposed cliffs—along with the spatial framework of traditional Jinling gardens—served as the initial inspiration for the design.
We introduced various clusters of guest rooms and a series of public amenities, utilizing the courtyard as the fundamental design unit. These courtyards are arranged in a cascading, juxtaposed layout that responds to the site's varying elevations. Courtyard walls meander and extend across the landscape; their staggered interplay defines the public circulation routes and creates spaces for pause and repose. A central water courtyard, weaving through the complex, visually extends the guest experience outward—seamlessly connecting it to the adjacent gardens and the expanse of water lying ahead. To the west, a grove of trees forms a natural backdrop for the architectural ensemble while simultaneously providing a distinctive arrival experience for the hotel.
